“Omani Man”

HERE'S THE STORY
Sorry that I don’t have a story about this guy. The photo I used was borrowed from my teacher and good friend, Saud Al Hunaini. He was out among the interior towns of Oman gathering photos which he could later use in his paintings. Saud is an extroidinary oil painter of the super realism bent. His work just glows. Many of his paintings are owned by the Sultan of Oman and other members of the royal family. I love using photos which have been taken by fellow painters. They understand the value of light and dark, especially how shadows fall across a figure. It’s the reason I chose this photo as the harsh sun and the cast shade of the man’s mussar (the Omani turban) cried out for me to draw him.
