“Hibiscus I”
HERE'S THE STORY
My mother’s dream was always to visit Hawaii. One year, to celebrate their anniversary, by father booked a two week trip to the islands. They had a great time and the hibiscus flowers which grow there became her favorite flower. This small version is a study I made before painting a larger painting. Here, I was able to work out the colors and the values to differentiate the focal flower from the background flowers. Some artist’s chose not to sell their sketches or studies but I figure, if the painting worked, why not?
