“Goat Sketch”
HERE'S THE STORY
Goats are all around Oman except in the busiest of cities. Most of the time anyway. A local goatherd brings her goats around our villa every now and again and we’re in the urban section of Muscat. Anyway, they have the goofiest looks on their faces. They are just too funny not to paint and I made many sketches like this with different goats and different mountains. One time my husband and I pulled off the road in the Hajar Mountains to consult a map. After a few minutes we looked up to see our Land Rover totally surrounded by goats, all looking in toward us. Too late to circle the wagons, we moved the SUV slowly and they dispersed as soon as they realized they weren’t getting anything to eat. I don’t know where they came from or where they disappeared to. Goat ghosts?
