HERE'S THE STORY
Every realist watercolorist I know wants to paint crystal. The translucency of the medium just begs for glass, whether it’s cut glass like in this painting or glass marbles which are also a favorite. I also just love drapery. Chris, my husband, always teases me about this, especially when we are at the great museums and looking at the marble sculpture. “Just LOOK at that drapery!” has become my signature. I got to do both crystal and drapery in this painting. And I was able to experience how the colors from the blue cloth and from the orange tiger lily bounced around the glass or off the white cloth. It was so much fun to paint this, I almost hated to finish it. And just look at that drapery!
